"Female sexuality has always been theorized with masculine parameters."  Right off the bat, Irigaray spits the truth.  She goes on to discuss the fact that women's sexuality and pleasure are not always mutually exclusive; more often than not, women are seen as the objectivity of men's sexuality.  Women are often thought of as serving men or simply means for reproduction.  Men are given the freedom to explore their sexuality at will.  This proves detrimental to women's health.  I often hear stories of women never have achieved orgasm because they simply do not know.  The act of masturbation is commonplace amongst society in regards to men, but is seen as dirty for women.  The majority of women have little knowledge about their own sexual organs, because no one teachers them.  Men have almost no knowledge about the menstrual cycle or about pleasure for women during sex.  The way that more lucrative subjects are viewed in society are strictly controlled and dominated by men.
