Preclass Blog

I find the reading to be very difficult to follow until it is discussed in further detail in class what exactly is going on in the reading. there were many different ways of architecture I learned in one day/reading that I had no idea what they physically looked like. I again called myself thinking that it was a simple reading and categories of architecture to learn and failed to remind myself that there always has to be some sort of subcategories of architecture and art to learn about. To be completely honest, I know I will have a difficult time learning about all the styles of modernism and postmodernism and how they each have these subcategories of architecture. What I thought was interesting was anthropomorphism. I find it weird that people will actually take time to create a building or structure that gives off the look of a face of some sort. In a way I find it fascinating that we are able to recognize a face no matter what it is made out of. Is it just because we are so bored with building traditional style buildings and we as human beings said “why not“ challenge ourselves to create giant structures that display a face? That is just one theory I have. Reading through this article makes me think of the bigger picture sometimes. It makes me wonder what we as human beings are capable of doing if we put all our effort towards building structures that benefit not only the inhabitants of that area, but the world as we know it around us. Frankly I think of the movie “Tomorrowland” and all of the structures in that future world that benefit both the people and the earth that way we can extend our existence in this lifetime.
