These past classes were very interesting when it comes to how powerful imagery can be for people. I especially think the most recent class this past Wednesday was most interesting to me in the most effective out of all the classes so far. The images that were displayed in class that were without context made it very difficult for me to analyze it. I guess that is just what I am used to though: being presented an image and words to go along with the image to construct what is happening. It makes me think of all the images I have seen before in the media and wonder was it just for the attention or was it an actual live action picture taken. The images of the troops killed in the first image made me feel a certain type of way. It made me think of my adversaries point of view which they would have the complete opposite reaction of what I would. It’s amazing what a frozen moment of time can do to the mind of a human being depending on where one is coming from and what the context is of the image being presented. It makes me question: is what I’m seeing real or staged?
Kind of like The discussion we had about Disneyland and how we are at a time when we are beginning to intertwine what is real and what is not. I feel it is almost scary in a sense because maybe we will get to a point we do not know what is reality and what is not anymore. Especially with the technological advances we are having with things such as video games and virtual reality. I personally do not know if I want to be involved in a time where reality and fiction are so close together that you cannot tell the difference between the two anymore.
