The Baudrillard reading had quite an impact on me being at the fact that it focused on the 9/11 attacks. I feel like I can go on about the use of images and the September 11 attacks all day being the fact that it was one of my first early childhood memories. As I grew older I have learned to become more disciplined with my emotions when talking about such subject. The images that I sometimes look at intentionally sort of keep the fire burning in me on why we fight. Baudrillard mentions how since we are in a technological age where images can be spread across the world in an instant, the terrorists knew that they would get their message and use the media to their advantage. In a way the repetition of the images still early after the September 11 attacks for used as propaganda for Americans to sign up and fight. I always believed that any type of image had some sort of powerful message an September 11 attacks were very different compared to other images taken in history being that the fact that modern day technology was used. In a way the media can be used to anybody’s advantage when it comes to sending a message, propaganda, and scaring people. Yes at times the medium might be informative, but I never looked at the media the same after learning the amount of bias each media source has. It is a strange way to look at it but the media essentially worked with the terrorists in delivering their message of fear and hatred towards us. They knew they had to do something so big that it would get everybody’s attention.
The terrorist knew that the West is known for its Hollywood and cinema affects. How largely devoted we are to watch movies and watching TV. Knowing this and our culture, they used that to their advantage. To this day the images are still displayed every anniversary and still has an impact on me. I think it has a heavier impact on me than it does most other people being that the fact that I was there.
