After reading Eco's City of Robots, it made me think of my own experience at Disney. As a kid, I only went to Disney a couple of times. Disney was a 3 hour flight away and when we did decide to go, I was extremely excited because I was obsessed with all the movies and bought my favorite merchandise before the trip.
When reading Eco's article, the quote "Disneyland tells us that technology can give us more reality than nature can" (Eco, p. 203). I think this is interesting in the fact that technology has advanced so much to the point that we are relying more on technology. Nature is not predictable to the point that we can determine what exactly is going to happen every moment but we have ways to predict that behavior. Disney is using technology simulations that are predictable so it creates a sense of comfort when one is at the park. I can still remember certain rides or plays at Disney that I saw when I was 8 years old and it still remains the same to this day.
As a society, we like things that are predictable. Maybe that is one of the reasons why we like Disney because it connects ourselves to when we were a kid and it still creates the same general feeling or nostalgia that keeps us buying these tickets.  I think it is interesting the shift we are making from nature to technology. We are a society that is built on instant gradification ever since social media and other technology advancements, that's why I think we are moving towards technology and Disney is providing this instant and consistent gradification.
